One of my clients showed me her newly award-winning video yesterday and it’s a perfect example of a great video that LLS can use — and this was her very first attempt to create a video! As an FYI, this video was created by Terry Chambers, co-owner of Prospect Jewelers, but was made for an organization she’s very involved in. I would love to hear your feedback on this.

Have you heard the news (better late than never!)?

As predicted, effective July 1, 2011 your vehicle business-use tax deduction increases from 51 cents per mile to 55.5 cents per mile per the IRS.

An increase was also given for Medical and Moving mileage — up from 19 cents to 23.5 cents per mile.

Mileage for Charitable use stays the same at 14 cents.

PLEASE NOTE: The new rates are NOT retroactive to January 1, and all business, medical and moving use during the first half of 2011 will be deductible at the old rates.

So make sure you keep the mileage separate because determining the value of your deduction at year-end will require you to make two separate computations.

If you would like more information about how to use every available tax deduction for your home-based business, go to Ron Mueller’s Tax Savings website to learn all the LEGAL ways to save thousands on your taxes!

That’s it for now! Enjoy your tax savings!

A woman entrepreneur’s spirit and faith can often be tested when it comes to marketing and business. For example, let’s say you just signed on a new client, only to have their credit card decline. Or, the new program you were so excited to launch fizzles out with few registrations.

We don’t like to admit it, but most women take setbacks like these personally, allowing these situations to stir up painful feelings of doubt, fear or diminished self-worth. Discouraged, they begin thinking they’re not good enough, or that the Universe is “giving them a sign” to try something else.

The problem isn’t the client’s credit card or the launch that fizzled, it’s giving up too soon. Listen, growing a business takes enormous faith that you access and tap into every single day.

Learn what my 3 favorite secrets for keeping the faith so that you can continue to grow your business, even when something happens that might tempt you to throw in the towel.

Faith Secret #1 Take The Response You’re Getting From Your Marketing As Feedback, Not As A Setback

If your launch produced disappointing results then get an expert to help you figure out why. This is where being a member of a quality coaching group can really pay off. Ask your mentor to give you pointers on the copy, amount and type of marketing. Remember that we all have blind spots, which is why you need an expert’s eye to help you see what you can do differently with your next launch.

Faith Secret #2 Remember Why You’re In Business And Who You’re Here To Help

When you’re in the midst of a crisis of faith it helps to remember WHY you’re passionate about what you do. Think of someone you’ve helped and who reached out to you with appreciation. Allow yourself to feel gratitude for the contribution you’ve made to other peoples’ lives.

I have a special Gratitude file of cards, letters and emails sent to me over the years from clients, newsletter readers and from people who’ve seen me speak. Creating your own Gratitude file will help you stay connected to the heart and spirit of your business, and allow you to tap into a limitless abundance of Divine passion that will quickly put the wind back into your sails.

Faith Secret #3 Dig Deep Rather Than Giving In

The secret to success is often tenacity. To stay the course, you need to surround yourself with people who will help you improve your results and support your spirit.

Often, a setback is the perfect opportunity to point out where you might need to make a major shift in your mindset or strategies. Which is why, rather than hop around from mentor to mentor, I prefer to stick with the same coach for several years (or until I’ve mastered what they have to teach me).

Even In Business, Faith Is The Belief That Divine Spirit Flows Through You, No Matter What

Being a successful woman entrepreneur is a powerful way to become the kind of person you admire and are proud to be. And while it may not always be a path of roses getting there, if you keep the faith — by keeping connected to Divine Spirit flowing through you — you will thrive and prosper, in business AND in life.

by Guest blogger, Ellen Violette, The eBook Coach

The fastest way to build a targeted list and get paid for doing it is by putting on a virtual event like a Summit or Expo. These events are great when they work but they can be a nightmare if not done properly.

I know because I put on a very successful event called “Virtual eBook Expo” and we’re getting ready for our third one! And in doing this event, I’ve discovered there are 3 major keys you MUST have for your event to succeed.

1. You MUST find joint-venture partners who have lists that are interested in what you have to offer. It doesn’t matter how many lists you get access to, you won’t make sales if they are not lists that are targeting the same market that you want to reach.

2. You MUST make sure that at least some of the targeted lists you get access to are big enough ones to warrant putting all the time and energy that it takes to put on this type of event. Sales is a numbers game. The more eyeballs that see your offer (that are interested in what you have to offer), the more sales you will make.

So, you have to weigh the number of hours it is going to take to put on the event vs. how many people you will reach.
It takes the same amount of effort whether you have big lists or small lists so you want to target as many big lists as
you can.

3. You MUST have a solid team in place (I, Nita, am a part of Ellen’s team!) so that your event runs smoothly from start to finish. If you don’t have a solid team that knows what to do and has your back, you can run into major problems that can torpedo your success.

Want to learn more? Join me for a one-hour advanced training call on how to create successful and profitable online events. It’s this month’s training call for eBook Empire Builders which you get at no cost with membership.

This is written by Guest Columnist, the incredible Ali Brown!

No matter what type of business you’re in — you’ve probably faced the
challenge of trying to sell your products and services online. Maybe
you have a brief description and hope the picture sells itself. Or
maybe you went a little further, listing a few paragraphs, the price,
and a few testimonials.

If you’re not getting the response you were expecting, it might be time
to try something new. And a VERY effective tool to sell online is to
create a special sales page w/ a “slippery slope” sales letter.

Remember that game Chutes & Ladders? If you landed on a space
that had a chute on it, you just went down. No turning back. That’s
how your sales letter should be — a “slippery slope” that pulls in the
reader because it’s so compelling and interesting.

Here’s a basic outline of the 13 elements you want to include. (To
see an example of them all in action, visit the sales page for MY
new telecourse I just launched this week, called “24-7 Web Sales:
Get More Leads and Clients Online at Little to No Cost” at
www.alibrown.com/websales.)

1. Limit your navigation.

Your web visitors should not be distracted by links that take her to
your bio, other products, etc. The idea is to keep her on this page,
reading your copy, focused, and inviting her to order.

2. Give a powerful headline.

Your headline can make or break your sales. If it’s not compelling,
your visitor will click away. Here’s an easy headline formula: “How
to _________ so you can ____________.” Make sure the second
part gives a big benefit, for example, “double your business” or “gain
peace of mind.”

3. Discuss the problem the prospect has, or incorporate your own
story.

Marketers call this “pushing the ‘ouch’ button.” First discuss the
problem or pain that the reader has, and then lead in to how your
product will solve it. Or share your own failure-to-success story
that the reader can empathize with.

4. Tell us who you are.

If I’m going to buy your stuff, I’d like to know why you’re qualified
to sell what you’re selling. Give me the feeling that you’ve learned
a lot about this topic and want to share it with me.

Add a picture, video, or audio message to help the reader instantly
feel like she knows you better, increasing the “trust factor.” And
people buy from those they feel they know, like, and trust!

5. Use bullets like mini headlines.

Lay out everything I’ll get from your product. Don’t just list your
table of contents verbatim! Turn each point into an exciting
secret. For example, suppose your e-book features five tips on
how to save money on groceries. That bullet could read, “Revealed:
5 ways you can save hundreds of dollars on your monthly grocery
bill.”

6. List plenty of testimonials.

Show your prospects they won’t be the first to buy. It’s more
effective to weave in testimonials throughout your sales letter
than to have a separate section for them. Give each person’s
full name and Web address, and for extra power, post
their photo, and an audio or video testimonial as well.

7. Tell us why your product is such a great value.

How does the price of your product compare if I hired you one-on-
one? For example, your manual is a great value at $49 if an hour
consultation with you would run me $250.

8. Throw in a few great bonuses.

Offer special bonuses (preferably created by you) that are so good
you could sell them alone if you wanted to. It could be a list of
resources, a collection of articles, a complimentary product, extra
tips on a certain subject, or a free consultation.

9. Give a guarantee.

This puts your prospect at ease, giving her no reason to NOT
buy. The amount of sales you GAIN from this strategy dramatically
outweighs the risk. What, and how, and how long you guarantee
can depend on many factors.

10. Request immediate action by having a limited time offer.

Some sales pages use trick scripts to make it seem like the
offer always ends on that day at midnight, but I find these
insulting. If you really will be raising your price soon (and you
always should be), list the exact date and stick to it.
Otherwise just say it’s an introductory, limited-time offer.

11. Make it ABSURDLY CLEAR what to do next.

Nothing bothers me more than when I’m at a Web site, I have my
credit card ready, and I can’t find the order link! Make your order
process idiot-proof. Example: “Click below to order now.” Also, you
may even sprinkle in order links throughout your page — some
people will be ready to buy before they get to the bottom.

12. Make one last plea.

In your P.S., right after your signature, emphasize that I should
act now. For example, “Don’t miss out on this great opportunity.
Remember, you can buy now and change your mind at anytime.”

13. Don’t forget your contact information!

Readers WILL have questions, so provide an e-mail address on
your site that you or someone else will check at least daily. Also,
don’t you feel better buying from a Web site that lists a real
address and phone number?

I’m one of those who are pretty active on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn, as well as the lesser known SelfGrowth.com. All these have been proven, time after time, to help brand a person or company as well as build their businesses — when used properly.

There are also TONS of programs that continue to pop up day after day that offer to help users spend their time on these social media sites more effectively. I have to admit that I’ve tried quite a few but have only gone back to a few of them — and still haven’t found a program that does everything I want it to do. You would think with all the people that are creating these programs, someone would create a program that encompasses most tasks a user needs for at least one of these sites.

I’ve found that there are hundreds and hundreds of Twitter programs that have been created and I admit to being pretty fickle with all of them I’ve tried. There is one that seems to rise above the others. That program is call Twellow.

Twellow.com helps users, primarily business people, find people that are in a certain niche. It’s been described as the “Twitter Yellow Pages”, and includes hundreds of categories, as well as very vague niches. Twellow finds available (public) messages from Twitter and analyzes them, then assigns the Tweet writer in up to as many as 10 categories from the hundreds listed on their site. This helps you to narrow your search into more specific niches so you can find your target market.

While you’re searching, check to see if you’re registered. If not, go ahead and register while you’re there. If you are, go there to delete categories that have already been assigned to you or add ones that aren’t. This can help people searching to find you as well.

There are many good programs out there to help you with your social media needs. Try Twellow.com for your Twitter searches and I’ll keep you updated as I find other good programs.

I’m sure, like most of us, you’ve heard very mixed reviews about the value of writing press releases. This post will tell you just how to use press releases to increase your website rankings and increase much-needed traffic to your website.

Yes, there is always the possibility that someone in the press will find your press release and choose to contact you for an interview, a quote or for further information. But the chances are pretty low unless you already know members of the press and know the exact way to write a press release — and you get extremely lucky!

But no, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be writing press releases! The greater value of a press release is that you can add many inbound links to your website or blog from each press release.

The best way to increase your website ranking is to link from your press release to a specific page within your website — not just one of the main pages, especially the homepage. Use your keyword phrase properly, and fairly specifically, within the release and link it back to a specific website article or blog post.

Once you submit your press release to distribution sites such as PRWeb, PRNewswire and many others, the search engines will see your selected keyword phrase linking back to your website or blog. That website or blog then gets ‘credit’ for that backlink — and the more backlinks you can get, the higher the ranking of that website in Google’s eyes, as well as most other search engines. That will then help to increase your website traffic because your information is more ‘out there’.

Check back soon for an article that tells you how to properly write a press release, how and where to add keyword phrases, and where to submit them.

I’ll ‘talk’ with you soon!

Since gasoline prices seem to continue to rise, they have announced that new 2011 standard vehicle deduction rates have also risen. Whenever you use your personal vehicle for business, charity, medical or relocation purposes, IF you keep track of the miles you use your vehicle and for what purpose, you can write it off as a tax deduction on your taxes.

Here are the new rates that are now in effect:

Business: 51 cents per mile (previously 50 cents in 2010)
Charity: 14 cents per mile (no change)
Medical: 19 cents per mile (up from 16.5 cents in 2010)
Moving: 19 cents per mile (up from 16.5 cents in 2010)
